Barry Sheerman pledged to value or natural heritage this week after a meeting with the Wildlife Trust and the Heritage Lottery Fund at the House of Commons. The event showcased a number of Wildlife Trust projects funding by HLF around the UK, highlighting the value of funding nature and its recovery.Â
"This shows what can be done if a body invests in and values the natural environment. The Wildlife Trust projects have brought great benefits to local wildlife and people. I hope Wildlife Trust and the Heritage Lottery Fund continue to work together to protect and restore nature and to help people engage with the natural world."
Each Wildlife Trust working within its local communities inspires people about the future of their area, while preserving the rich natural wildlife. With an uncertain economic future, Barry believes funding the organisation is vital to protect the environment.
Barry urges other parliamentarians to ensure the Government delivers an ambitious and visionary Natural Environment White Paper in May.
