Barry accuses Ministers of inaction over youth unemployment

Posted: Nov 9, 2011

Barry accuses Ministers of inaction over youth unemployment During the Opposition Day debate on youth unemployment, Barry Sheerman MP, former Chair of the Children, Schools and Families Select Committee voiced his concerns about newly published figures which state that under the coalition government that youth unemployment has risen to over one million.

Barry called on the Government to do something bold and imaginative to do something about this tragic figure.  He suggested that education and training, leading to work in the community and the environment is urgently needed, and he accused Ministers of doing nothing because they believe it is cheaper to have young people on the dole, than to help then into employment.
